Goodreads Local Book Club Feature
The Problem
While Goodreads currently has groups and communities in which you can join online, they do not have an ability to find local community members to form a book club. While virtual book clubs have value, some times users want to participate in an in-person book club too.
The Hypothesis
I’d like to create a new screen in the Communities portion of Goodreads that allows users to:
Create a local book club.
Include options for setting the club's name, location, meeting frequency, and preferred genres.
Browse and search for local book clubs based on location, genre preferences, or other relevant criteria.
Join an existing local book club.
Users should be able to invite others to join their book club.
Research
For competitive research, I looked at the product Meetup - a social networking platform that facilitates the creation of local groups and events.
